they, it, he, she,this, that...それぞれの代名詞が何を指すのか把握しながら読んでますか？

入試受験シーズンですね。検定の受験シーズンでもあります。みなさんお疲れ様です。

つい最近、お問い合わせで、「長文読解問題が超苦手」のご相談を頂きました。

　初回の面談で体験授業（私もその生徒さんのご様子を知ることができます）を実施しています。殆どの方がよく英語長文読んでいるご様子ですが、「代名詞」が何を指すのかをきちんと把握しないまま読んでいるようです。

下の英文を、さっと読んで内容を把握してください。

Ben and his friends live in a small town, and there is a music stores in the town run by a person who really loves vintage guitars. They love it and often go there to buy guitars. One day, thinking that they had too many, they were going to sell some of their guitars somewhere. Then the owner of the store heard about them and told them to bring them to his store.

難しい単語はありませんが、内容はきちんと把握できていますか？

もし、上の英文中の代名詞を

they:彼ら

it:それ

there:そこ

them:彼らを

many:たくさん

his:彼の

で訳しているとしたら、内容は読めていないと思います。どれだけゆっくり慎重に読んでも内容が違っていると思われます。

私は英文を読むときは、代名詞をハッキリさせてから読んでいます。というか、そうしないと話が分かりません。

みなさんも、「代名詞が何を指すのかをハッキリさせてから読む」を心がけて下さい。「よく読む」とはそういう意味です。
